Senecio 'String of Rubies' is a captivating succulent known for its trailing stems adorned with fleshy, oval-shaped leaves that exhibit a deep ruby-red hue, resembling a string of precious gems. Exhibiting a cascading growth habit, 'String of Rubies' can trail down several feet, making it an ideal choice for hanging baskets or elevated containers.

  • Senecio species are found worldwide, from desert regions to mountainous terrains and tropical areas. Some popular species like Senecio rowleyanus (String of Pearls) are native to parts of Africa.

  • The String of Rubies gets its name from its elongated, ruby-red leaves, which can add a pop of color to any space.
  • It's a fast grower and can quickly fill a hanging basket with its trailing stems.
  • Some Senecios have been reclassified as the Othonna genus. The new botanical name for this plant is Othonna capensis.
